French epee with clamshell guard and helical-shaped grip. Prior evidence of nickel plating on the guard, ferrules, and pommel. Grip wrapped in alternating strands of twisted and untwisted brass wire. Pommel peened on. "J. H. Lau & Co New York" makers mark on the blade's forte.
